In this course, I can honestly say that I learned a lot. Before I took this course I did not fully understand the depth of having a shared vision. Working on the Shared Vision assignment allowed me to see the importance of collaborating with stakeholders and working together to form a student-centered environment that will enhance learning for of all students. Completing the SWOT Analysis helped me identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that our school has and then how to develop strategies to reach the goals of our School Improvement Plan. The Action/Evaluation Plan provided knowledge on ways to implement strategies for improvement. I thought this assignment was very beneficial because it's one thing to be able to identify a problem but it's more effective when you can provide tools that will support the challenges that schools face every day.
Another experience I found to be beneficial was writing the IT Grant. I must admit that I was a little nervous because this was my first time attempting to write a grant and I felt completely clueless. Thankfully it turned out to be easier than I thought being that the research for the technology tools wasn't hard and it was pretty easy expressing how the technology devices and web 2.0 tool would support my students' learning and engagement in the classroom. I feel more confident about writing grants in the future. The RSS Feed was something new to me. I can appreciate having it because I am able to search for technology sources and stay up to date with current news in the digital world. I am looking forward to learning more as I continue on my journey of technology leadership. Each course brings along new experiences and even though they all seem a bit intimidating in the beginning, I always find myself amazed at how much I gain in the end.
